TFRA uses Nane Nane Fair to campaign for the proper use of fertilizers

DODOMA: TANZANIA Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA) said its nationwide campaign to promote the proper use of fertilizers has been successfully implemented through the ongoing Nane Nane Exhibition.

The authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Joel Laurent, said the authority is fully participating in the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition now taking place at various venues across the country.

 He said the main purpose of their participation is to provide farmers with education on the proper use of fertilizers and to highlight various opportunities available within the fertilizer sector.

Laurent added that in the current financial year, the government has developed a special strategy to promote and expand fertilizer production through local manufacturing industries.

This strategy aims to ensure the availability of approximately 200,000 tons of fertilizer and 50,000 tons of agricultural lime. This will help farmers increase productivity in their farming activities.

He also urged farmers nationwide to visit the TFRA booths at the show to learn more about fertilizer use and gain education on other opportunities available in this important sector.

On his part, Allan Marik, the TFRA Manager for the Central Zone – Tabora, invited all farmers to visit the authority’s booth to register in the TFRA system and obtain a subsidy number that will enable them to access fertilizer support.
