TFF assures support to CAF-Interclub envoys

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia has assured Tanzanians of the federation’s support to the country’s envoys in the  CAF- Interclub  competitions to ensure they advance to the group stage of the tournaments.

The trio; Simba, Young Africans (CAF Champions League) and Singida Fountain Gate (CAF Confederation Cup) have a busy weekend as they play second preliminary round first leg matches.

Simba take on Power Dynamos at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia while  Yanga face Al Merrikh at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda for the second preliminary round clashes of CAF CL tomorrow.

On Sunday, Singida Fountain Gate will host Future FC from Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup assignment at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam with the return leg match slated in Cairo, Egypt next week.

“In international matches, we all stand together and, in this case, I wish the three teams all the best of luck and I strongly believe they will do well.

“The team which starts at home (Singida Fountain Gate) must ensure that they finish the business here while those which begin away (Simba and Yanga) should play well to complete the mission at home,” Karia said.

He continued: “We hope to see that the trio qualify for the group stage and the good thing is that the head of delegation for our teams comes from TFF hence they know what to do to help our teams move forward,” Karia said.

In a related development, Simba midfielder Clatous Chama admitted that the game against Power Dynamos will be challenging but he insisted that they will battle to generate success.

“They are a good team too and I see that they are improving…we need to respect them but we aim to move to the next phase of the competition. We are going to fight for that,” Chama said.

Meanwhile, Yanga through their Media and Communication Manager Ali Kamwe conceded that skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto will not be part of the squad to play Al Merrikh as he did not depart with the team due to a family matter.

In another development, CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) flag bearer Singida Fountain Gate believe that the coming of new Kenyan striker Elvis Rupia will help to improve the team’s goal-scoring efficiency.

Rupia was introduced on Wednesday night after he arrived in the country ready to offer his service at the club. The 28-year-old player was formerly parading at Kenya Police which compete in the country’s FKF Premier League and he is among the renowned goal poachers.

“We are delighted to have him in the team and we hope that he is going to help our team do well in both domestic and international games,” said the club’s Head of Media and Communications Hussein Massanza.

He also pointed out that the club will continue to strengthen different positions of the team as per recommendations by the technical bench.
