TANZANIA: AFTER a long pause, the Tanzania Women’s Premier League (TWPL) is back with all 10 teams in action at five different venues from 4:00 pm today.
JKT Queens will be at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam welcoming Bunda Queens while the other match will see Ceasiaa Queens host Simba Queens at Samora Stadium in Singida.
Also, Geita Gold Queens face Alliance Girls at Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita, Amani Queens interface Fountain Gate Princess at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi while Yanga Princess entertain Baobab Queens at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.
After today’s matches, the scramble for maximum points action will return on Friday as Amani Queens host Yanga Princess at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi.
Then Ceasiaa Queens will face Fountain Gate Princess at Samora Stadium in Iringa while Alliance Girls welcome Bunda Queens at Nyamagana Stadium in Mwanza.
On the same day, JKT Queens will battle against Geita Gold at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam whereas Baobab will be at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma locking horns against Simba Queens.
So far, Simba Queens lead the table with 25 points after 9 matches seconded by JKT Queens who have bagged 19 points to trail the leaders by six points.
In third place is Yanga Princess with 18 points while Ceasiaa Queens accommodate the fourth slot courtesy of 16 points.
TWPL champions get an opportunity to play at CAF Women’s Champions League – CECAFA qualifiers whose winner books a ticket to represent the region in CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
Simba Queens and JKT Queens are the two teams from Tanzania to parade at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
