TCU opens final admission window

DODOMA: THE Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has opened the third and final round of undergraduate admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year, giving prospective students another opportunity to secure places in degree programmes with available vacancies.
The admission window runs from October 3 to 9, 2026, following the completion of the first and second admission rounds.
TCU Executive Secretary, Professor Charles Kihampa, said the decision followed requests from applicants who were unsuccessful in earlier rounds, as well as appeals from universities and other higher learning institutions that still had vacancies in some programmes.
Speaking to journalists in Dodoma yesterday, Prof Kihampa said the additional window would allow applicants who had not applied earlier, or those who failed to secure admission in the second round, to submit applications to institutions and programmes of their choice.

TCU has directed higher learning institutions to continue publicising degree programmes with available places during the final admission round.
Under the timetable, universities and other institutions will submit the names of students admitted in the third round to TCU between October 13 and 14.
The institutions are expected to publish the names of successful applicants on October 17.
Students admitted to more than one institution during the third round, as well as those who failed to confirm their admission in previous rounds, will have until October 19 to complete the confirmation process.
Meanwhile, TCU said the second-round admission results were being announced by individual institutions from October 3.
Applicants admitted to more than one institution in the second round, together with those who failed to confirm their admission during the first round, have also been given until October 19 to confirm their places.
Confirmation requires a special secret code sent through the telephone number or email address used during application.
Applicants who do not receive the code have been advised to log into the relevant institution’s admission system and request it again.
TCU urged applicants to use the same accounts used during application and direct admission-related complaints to the respective institutions.
