DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is continuing with its “It’s Very Easy” campaign at the Nyamanzi Grounds at Fumba, Zanzibar, as part of the international trade fair to celebrate Zanzibar Revolution Day.
The event was officially inaugurated on January 5, 2025, by the Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr Selemani Jafo, the aim being to educate the public on the importance of using the DOT TZ domain.
TCRA officers present at the TCRA pavilion, including Ms Sophia Mabada and Ms Jasmine Kiyungi, emphasised that adopting the DOT TZ domain helps to identify individuals and businesses as Tanzanian or based in Tanzania, fostering trust and facilitating smoother business transactions.
Ms Kiyungi also pointed out that the DOT TZ domain offers enhanced security, with all data and infrastructure remaining within Tanzania. This ensures that any technical issues can be addressed locally.
“Let’s return home to our domain,” she encouraged the audience. Since its inception on October 1, 2024, the “It’s Very Easy” campaign has made significant strides among various groups, including youth, children, adults, as well as communication stakeholders.

Statistics show that the campaign has helped many individuals avoid online fraud by encouraging them to report cybercrimes via the helpline number 15040.
The initiative has also contributed to a noticeable reduction in the use of fraudulently registered SIM cards. It has prompted people to verify SIM cards linked to their national IDs using the code *106#.
Those who discovered unauthorised SIM cards under their IDs were able to have them cancelled through their service providers.
TCRA’s Zanzibar Manager, Ms Esuvatie Masinga said that while the current campaign season is focused on promoting the DOT TZ domain, it will continue to educate the public on the broader opportunities available through communication services.
She stressed the potential of leveraging communication technologies to create jobs and promote online businesses, thereby boosting personal income and driving economic growth.
Ms Masinga noted the transformative role of ICT in today’s world, reiterating TCRA’s commitment to nurturing young innovators and encouraging children to embrace ICT.
The initiative aims to equip the younger generation with the skills necessary to use ICT for both economic and social advancement.
Under the leadership of Director General Dr Jabiri Bakari, TCRA has been proactive in advancing ICT usage.
Dr Bakari has championed the creation of a digital platform designed to foster collaboration between students and innovators, enabling them to discuss and develop solutions for various challenges.
