Helios Towers launches ICT lab at Kalenga, 873 students to benefit

IRINGA: A total of 873 students and 43 teachers at Kalenga Secondary School in Iringa District Council are set to benefit from a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory launched by Helios Towers.
The 30m/- project was launched at the school today, September 15, 2026, as part of the company’s community investment programme through which it supports education and digital development initiatives in Tanzania.
Iringa District Secondary Education Officer Alice Nkwera launched the project, saying it would help increase students’ understanding of technology, strengthen their digital skills and prepare them for the demands of the job market in today’s technology-driven world.

The project was funded by Helios Towers Tanzania and implemented by Camara Education Tanzania in close collaboration with the school management and education authorities in Iringa Rural District.
Through the project, Kalenga Secondary School has received various modern facilities, including 26 desktop computers, a projector, a Smart TV, internet connectivity, a whiteboard, an ICT maintenance kit and Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure.
Helios Towers is a global company involved in the development and operation of telecommunications tower infrastructure in various African countries, including Tanzania, with the aim of supporting access to communication services and promoting digital development in communities.
The company partnered with Camara Education Tanzania, a non-governmental organisation that improves education through the use of technology by providing ICT equipment to schools, training teachers and helping schools build capacity in the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning.
