TCA Junior League sees exciting action across multiple regions

TANGA: IN an effort to promote and develop cricket at the grassroots level, the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) continues to run junior leagues across various regions.

The action intensified yesterday as Ukombozi Girls clinched their second win in the Tanga TCA Junior League, defeating Usagara Girls by 6 wickets in a thrilling finish.

Usagara posted a modest total of 62/4 in their 20 overs, but Ukombozi comfortably chased down the target, reaching 63/4 in just 16.3 overs.

With this victory, Ukombozi Girls move to the top of Group A with 4 points, edging out Kwakaeza Girls and Kasera Girls, who are tied for second with 2 points each, though they have one match fewer.

In the TCA Mwanza Junior Girls League, Nyamagana Girls pulled off a major upset by defeating Group A leaders, Butimba Girls, by 8 wickets.

Despite a strong start to the tournament, Butimba Girls struggled to put runs on the board and were dismissed for just 30/10 in 12.4 overs.

Nyamagana Girls easily chased down the target, reaching 31/2 in only 10.2 overs to secure their first win of the campaign.

Butimba Girls still lead Group A with 4 points from three matches, but Nyamagana’s win has propelled them into second place with 2 points from two games.

Nyakurunduma and Nyegezi remain winless, occupying third and fourth place, respectively.

In the TCA Dar U17 League, Chanika Boys dominated Muhimbili Academy by 118 runs in a one-sided affair.

Chanika Boys posted a formidable 139/2 in their allotted 15 overs, with standout performances from Hassani Kahe Suleiman (49 off 43 balls) and Yasini Mohamed (29* off 21 balls). The team added 40 extras, bringing their total to a commanding 139.

Muhimbili Academy, in response, was bowled out for just 21 runs in 9.3 overs. The Chanika Boys’ bowlers were relentless, dismissing their opponents in quick succession to seal a dominant victory.
