TANZANIA: TANZANIA Bureau of Standards (TBS) has reinstated that entrepreneurs should maintain product quality to protect local markets while enhancing competition edge in both regional and international markets.
TBS Director of Quality Management, Mr Lazaro Msasalaga said over the weekend during the launch of a training session for entrepreneurs that maintaining high-quality service and product standards is crucial for industrial growth, investment and business success.
The training was organised by the East African Business Council (EABC) aimed to prepare entrepreneurs to sell their products in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA).
“Adhering to quality control standards helps protect the local market and increases competitiveness in both regional and international markets,” Mr Msasalaga said.
He said the training was essential to strengthen the capacity of local entrepreneurs to enable them tap the AfCFTA market.

The Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) President, Ms Mercy Silla, said that various committees are working to remove non-tax barriers to trade between countries, making it easier for entrepreneurs to access the Free Trade Zone.
“These efforts have simplified procedures especially regarding taxes and duties to ensure smoother business operations.
Various committees are working step by step to address these issues and many of the obstacles have already been tackled which is why people are now entering the market,” said Ms Silla.
The representative of the EABC Secretariat, Mr Moses Kanyesigye, said that the training is crucial for entrepreneurs to understand the market, quality standards and procedures.
“We want entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to access the market,” he said.
