TANZANIA Bureau of Standards (TBS) has vowed to continue to provide awareness of quality production to food processors and manufacturers in an effort to avoid health effects in the society.
TBS’s Director General, Dr Yusuf Ngenya said they conducted a study on the awareness of standardisation and found out that there is little knowledge.
“Product measurement is very important since it gives assurance of the product manufactured… the awareness will continue,” he said on Tuesday during the celebration of World’s Standard Day held in Arusha.
Arumeru’s District Commissioner, Mr Emmanuel Kaganda said there is a need for the TBS to conduct thorough training to enable manufacturers and food processors to add more value to quality production.
This year’s celebration is focusing on the contribution of standardising food products on the global food value system through the Measurement Supporting Global Food System (MSGFS).
