TBS issues 264 certificates, licenses to manufacturers

THE Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has issued 264 certificates and licenses to manufacturers from October last year to May this year, after their goods met the required criteria.

These included 257 of certificates of quality mark of standard and seven of management system certification

TBS Director General, Dr Athuman Ngenya, hailed entrepreneurs for meeting such an important criteria to obtain quality marks that guarantee them access to regional and global markets.

“You have been awarded these certificates and licenses since your products have met the required standards, so you’re required to continue producing quality products to gain more confidence from buyers, thus guaranteeing a reliable market,” said Dr Ngenya.

The certificates and licenses were granted to manufacturers of cosmetics, building materials, lubricants, electrical equipment, as well as packaging materials.

“Now you are eligible to sell your products within the East African region and other regions without hesitation,” he added.

Additionally, the director general said the government has continued to support the SMEs development by paying all of the costs of products certification.

“The government has been so supportive in a way that it has covered all costs of product verifications to enable entrepreneurs to continue to grow and contribute to economic development,” he added.
