Tanzania’s Nutrition Contract hits significant success in the 2024/25 fiscal year

DODOMA: TANZANIA has seen a significant success in the Nutrition Contract for the 2024/25 fiscal year, with many indicators marked in green to signal a strong performance across regions and local councils, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) Prof Riziki Shemdoe revealed today, January 23, 2026, in Dodoma.
The minister made the remarks here during a meeting assessing the implementation of the Nutrition Contract for 2024/25 noting that the country has made major strides in improving citizens’ nutrition, which contributes to a healthier workforce and enhances their contribution to national economic growth.
Additionally, he commended and thanked the regional commissioners, regional administrative secretaries, district commissioners, ward and village executive officers, and all leaders and officials in the Prime Minister’s Office, PMO-RALG for their dedication in coordinating and implementing the Nutrition Contract.

He further assured stakeholders that his office will continue close collaboration to achieve President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s goal of reducing, and eventually eliminating, malnutrition in the country.
Elaborating, he said that the achievements align with the legacy of Tanzania’s founding father, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, who emphasized strengthening the education, health, and economic sectors to combat the “three enemies” of the nation: ignorance, disease, and poverty.
Prof Shemdoe stated that investment in nutrition is a highly productive economic strategy, and that the National Development Vision 2050 prioritizes building a healthy society through proper nutrition to ensure the well-being of every citizen.
He also pointed out that the 2025/30 CCM Election Manifesto, Article 2.3.2 (xi), recognizes the importance of nutrition in safeguarding citizens’ health, and that the party will continue promoting and ensuring access to quality nutrition for all Tanzanians.
