Tanzania’s JKCL, Muhimbili services impress Mozambique delegates

DAR ES SALAAM: THE government of Mozambique is set to send a special delegation to Tanzania to learn about advanced cardiac treatment and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) services offered at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) and the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).

This was revealed by the First Lady of Mozambique, Gueta Selemane Chapo, during her visit to JKCI in Dar es Salaam.

Mrs. Chapo commended the institute for its capacity to offer specialized healthcare services to both local and international patients.

“JKCI is capable of treating over 2,000 international patients and accommodating up to 100 inpatients at a time. This is a significant contrast to our Maputo hospital, which still lacks such capacity.  We aspire to establish similar hospitals in the southern, central, and northern regions of Mozambique so that our women and girls can access quality healthcare,” said Mrs. Chapo.

She also expressed great interest in the IVF services provided to women who are unable to conceive, noting that the visit had been highly educational in understanding how Tanzania supports such women through modern fertility technologies.

“We plan to send our official delegation to come and learn more in-depth. We are truly grateful for this opportunity to visit Tanzania—we have gained a lot of valuable insights for our nation,” she added.
