Tanzanian passport named the best in the EMEA region

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN passport has been named the best passport in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, marking a major recognition of the country’s advances in passport security and immigration services.
Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, made the statement today, September 3, 2026, during a meeting of commissioners and officers responsible for citizenship and residence permit matters held at the Immigration Department offices in Kurasini, Dar es Salaam noting that the Tanzanian passport has distinguished itself through advanced security features that could serve as a model for other countries.
Elaborating, he stated that the use of technology and improved immigration services have also continued to enhance the reputation of Tanzania’s Immigration Department both within Africa and internationally.

Moreover, he stated that the achievement had earned the Immigration Department another recognition for Outstanding Service, which was presented on August 1, 2026, in Ghana.
According to the minister, the recognition reflected ongoing efforts to strengthen immigration services through technology, enhanced security and improved service delivery.
