Tanzanian envoy tours Brazilian breeders for ExpoZebu deal

UBERABA: AN official entourage, led by the Tanzanian ambassador to Brazil, John Simbachawene, visited Fernando Costa Park, in Uberaba (MG), with a strategic agenda: to strengthen commercial and cooperation ties with the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ), after the recent release, by the Federal government, of the exchange of various agricultural products between Brazil and Tanzania.
“We are very satisfied with the agreement that allows the import of genetic material and live cattle from Brazil to Tanzania. Brazil is recognized worldwide for its advancement in livestock production, and this partnership should contribute significantly to the increase of our production, both in quality and quantity,” highlights the ambassador.
In November of last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) concluded the health negotiations that now allow Brazil to export to Tanzania live cattle for breeding and genetic material to Tanzania, opening a new chapter in trade relations between the two countries.
With a population exceeding 68 million inhabitants, Tanzania is considered a strategic market for Brazilian agricultural expansion, offering scale, growing demand, and business opportunities.
“We encourage rural producers and Brazilian entrepreneurs to expand their exports, because there is great interest from Tanzania in the import of genetic material and live animals from Brazil,” adds Simbachawene.

For this market opening to materialize, it is essential to work together between entrepreneurs from the two countries, combined with diplomatic efforts. ABCZ, through the Brazilian Cattle project, operates on these two fronts.
“For some time, we have been working to enable the opening of this market, in dialogue with the ministries and with the support of the embassy’s visits to ExpoZebu. Last year, we received a technical mission to inspect semen collection centers, embryo production facilities, and farms, as well as to clarify health issues.
This whole process culminated in the opening of the market in November, which leaves us very satisfied and prepared to move forward in business,” explains the supervisor of ABCZ’s International Department.
