Tanzanian envoy boosts Serengeti Girls’ morale

TURKEY: TANZANIA’S Ambassador to Turkey, Iddi Seif Bakari, has visited the country’s U17 Women’s National Team, Serengeti Girls, which is currently participating in the UEFA Friendship Cup 2025 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The team started the tournament with a 1-0 victory against Lebanon in their first match, played on March 31, 2025. Today, April 3, 2025, Serengeti Girls are set to play their second match against Jamaica.

This international friendly tournament features a total of eight teams from different countries, including Tanzania, Zambia, Turkey, Colombia, Thailand, Finland, Lebanon, and Jamaica. The competition is scheduled to conclude with the finals on April 10, 2025.

During his visit, Ambassador Bakari congratulated the team for participating in the tournament and for their strong start with a victory. He also assured Serengeti Girls of his office’s full support throughout the competition.

Additionally, he wished the players and the technical team success in their upcoming matches, encouraging them to represent Tanzania proudly on the international stage and to continue fostering sports diplomacy.
