Tanzanian envoy attends Sherry Party in Portugal

LISBON: TANZANIA continues to strengthen its diplomatic and economic relations with Portugal through efforts to enhance economic diplomacy. In this regard, Tanzania’s Ambassador, Ali Mwadini, paid an official visit to Lisbon following an invitation from the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to attend the Ambassadors’ New Year Reception (Sherry Party).
During his visit, Ambassador Mwadini held discussions at various times with senior officials of the Portuguese Government. Among those he met were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, and the Director of the Africa (Sub-Saharan) Department at Portugal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leandro Amado.
In the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely to strengthen economic relations between Tanzania and Portugal. The cooperation aims to promote trade opportunities, attract investment, and further develop the tourism sector for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The leaders also discussed other key areas of cooperation, including the blue economy and the strengthening of collaboration in the aviation sector, initiatives expected to stimulate economic growth and enhance strategic cooperation between Tanzania and Portugal.
