Tanzanian Embassy in Namibia receives KOHA, a digital system promoting Kiswahili globally

WINDHOEK: THE Tanzanian Embassy in Namibia has officially received a digital library management system known as KOHA which aims at strengthening the global promotion of the Kiswahili language.
According to information from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the system, introduced in collaboration with the University of Namibia (UNAM), is expected to improve the management of library resources, simplify book cataloguing and enhance the efficiency of services offered at the Embassy’s Kiswahili Library, which serves Tanzanians in Namibia as well as international learners of the language.
Speaking during the handover ceremony on June 2, 2026, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Namibia, Caesar Waitara, thanked UNAM for its cooperation and technical support in implementing the system.
