Tanzanian beauties hit heights as Eve Godwin seals runner-up prize at Miss Africa 2026

DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania’s growing presence in international beauty pageants has received another boost after Eve Godwin finished runner-up at Miss Africa International 2026 in Nigeria.

Eve’s achievement adds to a remarkable year for Tanzanian beauty queens, following Jihan Dimack’s historic victory at Miss Grand International 2026 in Thailand, Rosie Uisso’s placement at Miss Global International and Sharon Julius’ third-place finish at Miss Elite World in Egypt.

Godwin’s second-place finish was announced early today, November 2, 2026, with celebrations held in her honour alongside her team, led by Miss Grand Tanzania Director Nazimizve Adam Mdolo.

Miss Africa International is an African-focused beauty competition that celebrates the continent’s cultural diversity, beauty, heritage and the potential of young women to contribute to society. Beyond physical appearance, the platform provides contestants with opportunities to showcase their confidence, talents, leadership and advocacy initiatives while promoting African identity and culture.

Eve’s achievement follows Dimack’s historic triumph at Miss Grand International 2026, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 10, where she defeated contestants from across the world to become the first Tanzanian and African woman to win the crown.

Miss Grand International is an international beauty pageant whose platform promotes peace and humanitarian causes. Its contestants compete through various presentation rounds, including swimsuit, evening gown and public-speaking segments, with the final decision involving a question-and-answer session.

Meanwhile, Rosie Uisso secured a place among the 12 finalists at Miss Global International, an international competition whose motto is “Uniting the World Through Beauty and Tourism,” promoting cultural exchange and tourism through participation by women representing different countries.

Sharon Julius also made Tanzania proud by finishing third at Miss Elite World, an international pageant held in Egypt that brings together contestants from different countries to compete in beauty, presentation and modelling.

The achievements underline Tanzania’s increasing visibility in international pageantry, with its representatives using the platforms to showcase the country’s identity, culture and talent while competing against contestants from across the globe.
