Tanzania, Yu Wi Co sign 24bn/- DMDP road project

DAR ES SALAAM: THE government has signed a significant road construction contract worth 24 bn/- with Yu Wi Co. Limited.

The contract, part of the second phase of the Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP), involves the construction of 17 roads with a total length of 7.4 kilometers at the Upanga and Ilala areas in Dar es Salaam

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office—Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Mr. Adolf Ndunguru, emphasised the project’s importance in easing urban mobility.

We have signed this contract to improve transportation within Dar es Salaam.

He added.”This is a major step forward in enhancing infrastructure under the President’s leadership.”

The DMDP is a government initiative aimed at transforming Dar es Salaam into a more livable and efficient city by upgrading its infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and urban planning frameworks.

The DMDP National Coordinator, Mr. Humphrey Kanyenye, noted this marks the 18th contract signed under the project.

“We are continuing to implement vital infrastructure projects that will change the face of the city and improve the daily lives of its residents,” he stated.

The second phase of the DMDP reflects Tanzania’s broader strategy to modernise its cities and support economic development by investing in durable and inclusive urban infrastructure.
