Tanzania welcomes the private sector’s investments in manufacturing, health, infrastructure

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has continued to encourage the private sector to actively participate in the implementation of development projects in collaboration with the public sector, particularly in investments in manufacturing, health, and infrastructure, in order to support the achievement of the Tanzania Development Vision 2050.

The statement was made by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Mshamu Ali Munde, during discussions with leaders and employees from packaging, exercise books, and paper manufacturing industries who visited his office at the Ministry of Finance, Treasury Square in Dodoma.

Munde said the Government recognizes the critical role of the private sector in driving economic growth and improving the livelihoods of citizens, noting that such collaboration forms a key foundation for achieving national development goals.

He added that under the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, the country aims to achieve a trillion-dollar economy, emphasizing that the private sector must serve as a central partner in this growth agenda.

“In the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, we are targeting a trillion-dollar economy. You are key stakeholders in the development of this country, and we want your contribution to be even greater than that of the public sector,” Munde said.

In another directive, he instructed the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) to strengthen control over the importation of illegal goods into the country, a move aimed at protecting the domestic market, increasing sales of locally produced goods, and boosting national revenue.

He also urged local manufacturers to continue improving the quality of their products in order to enhance competitiveness in both domestic and international markets, which would in turn increase exports and industrial growth.

On his part, the leader of the delegation from the packaging industry, Osman Haruni, commended the Government for continuously improving the business environment, saying it has been a key driver of investment and industrial production in the country.

He noted that the sector continues to grow due to cooperation between the Government and the private sector, while calling for further improvements in the business environment to enhance productivity and the quality of locally produced goods.
