Tanzania welcomes 13 tourism agents from India in a mission to promote the country’s tourist attractions

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Tourist Board (TTB), in collaboration with the Tanzania Embassy in India, has welcomed 13 tourism agents from India for a special familiarization trip aimed at promoting Tanzania as a tourist destination.

The trip, which runs from September 28 to October 4, 2026, is intended to give the agents an opportunity to experience Tanzania’s tourism attractions firsthand and strengthen business cooperation between Indian travel agents and tourism stakeholders in Tanzania.

Welcoming the delegation, Tanzania’s Ambassador to India, Anisa Mbega, who is accompanying the group, said the embassy would continue working with various tourism stakeholders in India to promote Tanzania’s attractions, grow the tourism sector and contribute to the country’s economy.

She said the agents’ visit was part of the embassy’s efforts to promote Tanzania’s tourism attractions in the Indian market through travel and tourism agents.

The delegation’s leader, Himanshu Patil, who is also President and Chairman of the Association of Tour Operators in India, said the purpose of their visit was to experience Tanzania’s tourism attractions and engage with key stakeholders in the sector.

He said the engagements would enable the Indian agents to establish partnerships with Tanzanian tourism stakeholders and facilitate efforts to attract more tourists from India to Tanzania.

Before beginning their tour, the agents held business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Tanzanian tour operators. The meetings were aimed at establishing direct business relationships and identifying new opportunities to increase tourist arrivals from the Indian market.

The visit is part of the Tanzania Tourist Board’s ongoing strategy to expand the Indian tourism market, which is currently among the six leading source markets for tourists visiting Tanzania.

During their stay, the Indian tourism agents will visit several major tourist destinations, including the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park and Zanzibar.
