Tanzania uses UNESCO platform to promote tourist attractions, raise its profile,

HANGZHOU, CHINA: TANZANIA continues to use various global platforms to promote its rich tourism attractions, while also strengthening community partnerships in conservation areas as an endeavor to raise the country’s profile on the international stage.

This week, the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) participated in the UNESCO World Conference on the Man and the Biosphere Programme, which also aimed to strengthen international cooperation, exchange knowledge, and acquire new technologies for environmental management and conservation.

The conference was held in Hangzhou, China, from September 22 to 25, 2025, and brought together various environmental stakeholders from across the globe. Tanzania was represented by NEMC’s Director General, Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi, and NEMC’s Environmental Research Manager, Dr. Rose Sallema. Additional representatives from Tanzania came from the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA).

Tanzania’s participation in this conference marked a significant step in advancing national efforts toward sustainable environmental conservation. The event provided a platform for Tanzania to showcase its tourism attractions, strengthen community partnerships in conservation areas, and raise the country’s profile on the international stage.

Additionally, the conference presented opportunities to enhance the sustainability of national parks, promote tourism potential, attract investors, strengthen community engagement, and contribute to the country’s overall development goals.
