Tanzania U19 qualify for World Cup

LAGOS: Brave Tanzania U19 team has qualified for the World Cup after their 98-run victory over Sierra Leone in their final match at UNILAG Cricket Oval in Lagos, Nigeria.

Besides winning the World Cup ticket, Tanzania is also the Africa Division 1 Champion.

Tanzania U19 opted to bat first after winning the toss and managed to register 179 runs all out using 49 overs.

The score looked too big for Sierra Leone Boys as their attempt to chase it ended with 81 runs after all 10 were bowled out.

Augustine Meya Mwamele and Laksh Bacrania did a good spade work for Tanzania as their partnership earned Tanzania over 80 runs.

Banked with their perfect batting, the duo had earned Tanzania 113 runs at the end of 35 overs.

Laksh Becrania ended as the top runs scorer after netting 53 runs from 83 balls while Mwamele added 43 runs from 69 balls. Karim Kiseto added 25 runs

Tanzania has won all five matches of their campaign.

They beat Uganda in their first match before seeing off hosts Nigeria in their second match.

They beat Namibia in their third game and later eliminated Kenya before meeting Sierra Leone.
