Tanzania, Türkiye to heighten cultural, sports cooperation
TANZANIA: THE Türkiye Embassy in Tanzania has committed to establishing a cultural centre here that will teach Kiswahili and Turkish as part of the bilateral cultural relations between the countries.
The memorandum of understanding between the two countries was reached on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam, by the Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Damas Ndumbaro and Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tanzania Mehmet Gulluoglu.
Both leaders agreed to work closely together to improve the sector of culture, arts and sports.
During that meeting, Ambassador Gulluoglu said his country was ready to support Tanzania in the construction of sports facilities. He also noted that Fenerbahçe SK is interested in establishing an academy.
“We have a long relationship and Tanzanian teams will continue to be given priority to set up preparation camps in Türkiye,” he said.
During the meeting, Ndumbaro updated the ambassador on Tanzania’s commendable progress in the lucrative industries of culture, arts and sports. Minister Ndumbaro added that the sector has provided employment for numerous youths. Additionally, he highlighted the steadily rising popularity of the Kiswahili language, which attracts more speakers.
