Tanzania tours Indonesia to cement ties in infrastructure development, service delivery

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and Indonesia are exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation and exchange experience in infrastructure development and local government service delivery, as a delegation of senior Tanzanian officials undertakes a study visit to Indonesia.

The delegation, led by Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) Chief Executive Officer Eng Victor H. Seff held talks with Tanzania’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Macocha Tembele, who welcomed the officials and discussed the objectives and expected outcomes of their visit.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tembele and the delegation discussed areas covered by the study tour and the institutions the officials are expected to visit to gain practical experience.

The discussions also explored opportunities to strengthen Tanzania-Indonesia cooperation and exchange expertise in various development areas.

According to information from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperations, during the discussions Ambassador Tembele emphasised the importance of using study visits to learn best practices in the management, planning and implementation of development projects, particularly infrastructure and service delivery by local government authorities.

The visit is aimed at enabling Tanzanian leaders and officials to learn from systems and approaches used in Indonesia and assess how relevant practices can be adapted to Tanzania’s environment.

The experience is expected to contribute to improved efficiency in public administration and better service delivery to citizens.

The delegation included the Mayor of Dodoma City, Directors of Dodoma and Mbeya cities, the Director of Mtwara Municipal Council and other senior government officials.
