Tanzania to reduce the cost of construction materials to enable safe, decent housing

DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has said that her government is committed to reducing the cost of construction materials to enable Tanzanian citizens to afford decent and safe housing.
Speaking in Parliament in Dodoma while addressing the 13th Parliament for the first time, President Samia stated that the government will place special emphasis on ensuring that Tanzanians have access to quality and affordable homes, while also overseeing the implementation of policies aimed at improving living conditions in areas with poor housing environments.
“We will place special emphasis on quality and affordable housing, and we will oversee the implementation of policies aimed at improving housing conditions in informal and underdeveloped settlements,” she said.

President Samia further noted that the government will continue collaborating with the private sector to boost investment in urban development projects, including the construction of low-cost housing for low- and middle-income citizens.
“In addition, we will accelerate the formalization of residential areas and strengthen the resolution of land disputes by surveying land across the country using modern technologies,” she added.
