DAR ES SALAAM : TANZANIA is set to make a major splash in the obstacle course racing (OCR) world in 2025, as plans for the first-ever Wave Wall tournament take shape.

“OCR Tanzania is excited to announce that we’re not just honing our skills on the Wave Wall obstacle; we are ready to expand our horizons,” Chapa stated.

He further emphasised that the coming year will see bold steps taken to engage in both local and international OCR events.

“We invite athletes to join us on this journey as we push our limits and set new goals together,” he urged.

In a significant move, OCR Tanzania has formed a strategic partnership with the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO). Chapa highlighted that a recent meeting with FISO President Ian Adamson marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration, one that promises to boost the sport’s growth in Tanzania.

FISO has pledged its support in expanding OCR in the country, which will enhance the sport’s profile and infrastructure.

Chapa also celebrated the success of Tanzanian athlete Mwahija Kisoma, who made an impressive debut on the international OCR scene this year.

Kisoma competed in high-profile events such as the Spartan Super 10K (10 km, 25 obstacles), Spartan Night Sprint (5 km, 20 obstacles), the Abu Dhabi Spartan Beast World Championship (21 km, 30 obstacles) and the Dubai World Obstacle Championships (DWOC) 2500m and 5000m events.

These FISO- recognised events showcased Kisoma’s talent and established him as a formidable force in the OCR community.

Kisoma’s success has set the stage for Tanzanian athletes to compete on the global stage, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Building on Kisoma’s achievements, OCR Tanzania is now focused on fostering a vibrant, competitive OCR community in the country.

“Together, we aim to elevate the sport and put Tanzania on the global map,” Chapa concluded.

“We believe that the nation has untapped potential in OCR.”
