Tanzania tasks TPDC to ensure the timely completion of all oil and gas projects

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy responsible for Oil and Gas, James Mataragio, has directed the management of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) to ensure that ongoing oil and natural gas projects in the country are executed and completed on time, so they can continue contributing fully to national economic development.

The PS issued the directives following a meeting with TPDC management to discuss opportunities in the oil and gas sector, challenges facing the industry, and to establish effective strategies to strengthen its growth.

During the meeting, Mr Mataragio also emphasized the importance of the corporation creating new investment blocks to attract more investors in exploration and production activities.

Meanwhile, the Petroleum Commissioner, Goodluck Shirima, said the government continues to enhance the infrastructure for natural gas distribution to increase its use across various sectors, including households, industries, and power generation. He noted that the government is also allocating areas for private sector participation in gas distribution projects.

TPDC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mussa Makame, said that the corporation will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Energy to ensure oil and gas projects are implemented efficiently and that Tanzanians fully benefit from the country’s resources.

The Permanent Secretary’s visit to TPDC is part of his tour to institutions overseeing the oil and gas sector, reflecting the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen institutional management and ensure that national resources fully contribute to the country’s development.
