Tanzania tables 2.39tri/- budget for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology

DODOMA: THE Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda, has requested Parliament to approve a total of 2.398tri/- for the ministry’s budget for the 2026/2027 financial year with the bulk of the funds allocated to development projects aimed at expanding and improving the education sector.
Presenting the ministry’s budget estimates in Parliament in Dodoma on Thursday, the minister said a total of 697.8bn/- is for recurrent expenditure.

Elaborating, the minister said of the recurrent budget, 648.1bn/- will cater for salaries, while 49.8bn/- will be used for other operational expenses.
Professor Mkenda further said 1.696tri/- has been allocated for development projects, with 1.337tri/- coming from domestic sources and 359.3bn/- expected from development partners.
