Tanzania tables 174.98bn/- budget for Minerals Ministry and its institutions

DODOMA: THE Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, has requested Parliament to approve a 174,98bn/- budget for the Ministry of Minerals and its institutions for the 2026/2027 financial year, in order to facilitate the implementation of planned activities and objectives as well as the collection of government revenues.
While presenting the ministry’s revenue and expenditure estimates in Parliament, Minister Mavunde said the ministry expects to collect revenues amounting to 1.406bn/- during the same financial year, hence seeking parliamentary approval for the proposed expenditure budget.
He explained that out of the total budget, 71.5bn/-, equivalent to 40.87 percent, will be allocated for development projects, while 103.47 bn/-, equivalent to 59.13 percent, will be used for recurrent expenditure of the ministry and its institutions.

Under the breakdown, 27.365bn/- will be allocated for personnel emoluments (PE), while 76.1bn/- will be set aside for other charges (OC) covering ministry operations and those of its institutions.
The Minister emphasized that the budget is aimed at strengthening the execution of mining sector functions, improving revenue collection efficiency, and enhancing the sector’s contribution to national economic growth.
