Tanzania, step up on continental stage

YES, Tanzania can take four teams to CAF InterClub competitions and that’s just the beginning. There’s no more room for doubt; Tanzanian football is on the rise.

For the 2025 CAF inter-club competitions, we are proudly sending four teams; two to the Champions League, Simba SC and Young Africans SC; and two to the Confederation Cup, Singida Black Stars and either Azam FC or KMKM.

Yes, we were agonisingly close to securing five slots, but make no mistake what we have achieved is historic and it deserves celebration. Six teams entered the preliminary round.

Five advanced with authority. That’s no fluke. That’s a statement. We are watching the fruits of years of effort investment, structure, coaching and most importantly, belief. Tanzanian football is no longer on the fringes of the continental conversation.

We are in the room. And soon, we’ll be at the head of the table. The next decisive moment lies between Azam and KMKM. One slot, two worthy contenders. It’s tricky, it’s tense but it’s also a reason to be proud. When two Tanzanian sides compete for a single CAF ticket, it shows how deep our talent pool has become.

Let us not forget the finals are no longer a fantasy. We have seen them in 1993, 2023 and last season. We have come close. This time, we aim not just to reach the finals but to win them. Not just to participate but to dominate. Whether it’s the Champions League or the Confederation Cup, our teams must go all the way. No more near-misses. It’s time to bring the trophy home.

Fans, this is your moment too. Rally behind our clubs. Fill the stands. Lift the players. Let them know that behind them stand millions of proud Tanzanians, ready to roar. Our support can be the difference between heartbreak and glory.

The path ahead demands more focus, more resilience, more hunger. But if we believe, if we work harder than ever, there is no telling how far we can go.
