Tanzania-South Africa great cultural season festival launched in Dar
Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Mohamed Mchengerwa has launched the Tanzania-South Africa Cultural Season Festival.
The one week event which will take place in Dar es Salaam, coast, Morogoro, Dodoma and Zanzibar aims to strengthen ties between the SADC member countries in various aspects including culture, arts and sports.
Speaking at a launching ceremony in Dar es Salaam, the docket minister said the Cultural Season Festival is an important platform to showcase and express African culture in the form of creative handicrafts, cultural walks, African music and traditional dances.
He said that the festival demonstrates a long-term cooperation between the two countries adding that the relationship was founded by founding fathers of the two nations; namely Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Nelson Mandela respectively.
“During the liberation movement of the African continent, Tanzania under the leadership of Mwalimu Nyerere was the stronghold and center of the freedom movement.
“This will give visitors and Tanzanians the opportunity to learn the history of the struggle to claim the independence of Southern African countries and the great historical heritage left in our country,” he added.
