Tanzania seeks well-structured plans to fully benefit from GC8 funding

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination, and Persons with Disabilities), Dr Jim Yonazi, has today, March 13, 2026, chaired a crucial meeting of the Tanzania National Coordinating Mechanism (TNCM) in Dar es Salaam, focusing on preparations for the Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 – GC8 funding application.
During the meeting, the PS stressed the need for well-structured and effective plans to ensure Tanzania fully benefits from the funds aimed at combating HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, while strengthening the overall health system.

Additionally, Dr Yonazi urged all members and stakeholders to maintain transparency and collaboration throughout the GC8 preparation process, stressing that TNCM’s success depends on the united voice of all represented stakeholders.
The meeting brought together representatives from government, the private sector, civil society, and development partners to discuss institutional operations and lay strong foundations for resource mobilization in the country’s health sector.
Moreover, at the meeting, the members elected Godlisten Moshi as the new Deputy Chair of TNCM, a move intended to complete the leadership team and enhance the body’s efficiency.
