Tanzania resorts to develop one health services management system

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government said it continues to improve the management systems in the health sector so that they are compatible from primary care centers to the national level, to facilitate rapid access to services and reduce medical costs for Tanzanian citizens, the Director of ICT at the Ministry of Health, Silvanus Ilomo, said today, February 6, 2026, in Dodoma.

Ilomo said this at a meeting of heads of ICT units in the health sector, which included discussions on the implementation of the instructions of the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa, to have one health services management system.

He added that it is of great importance to ensure that ICT systems in the health sector are compatible. This will facilitate the exchange of important information between health care centres without technological barriers.

The common reading of ICT systems will eliminate duplication of information and errors resulting from frequent data entry. Therefore, the quality of care for patients will increase as their information will be easily and accurately available.
