Tanzania registers 1.5m pupils for Standard 1V Exams

DAR ES SALAAM: MORE than 1.58 million Standard Four pupils have been registered for the National Assessment Test that starts from tomorrow, October 22nd to 23rd, 2025.
Of these, 764,290 are boys, or 48.31 percent, while 817,850 are girls, or 51.69 percent, in 20,517 schools.
Speaking to the media outlets today in Dar es Salaam, the Executive Secretary of the Examinations Council, Prof. Said Ally Mohamed, said that 1,475,637 pupils, equivalent to 93.27 percent, will take the examination in Kiswahili, while 106,503 pupils, equivalent to 6.73 percent, will take the examination in English.
He noted that 5,750 pupils with special needs, of whom 1,164 are visually impaired, 111 are blind, 1,161 are deaf, 1,641 are mentally disabled, and 1,673 are physically disabled.
“The fourth graders will take 6 subjects, which are Science, Mathematics, Geography, Environment, Art, Sports, Kiswahili, English Language, History of Tanzania, and Ethics. There will also be French, Arabic, and Chinese. The student will be required to take only one subject from the following languages,” he said.

The Executive Secretary has emphasized that the National Assessment of Grade Four is important because it enables students to understand the levels of mastery of advanced reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
“All preparations have been completed, including the distribution of the Assessment papers and all the necessary documents related to the Assessment in all Councils/Municipalities across the country. All supervisors have been given seminars, and all centers have been completed.
He added, “In addition, all Examination Committees should put in place strategies to prevent all loopholes that lead to fraud, and all appointed Supervisors should work carefully and adhere to the highest standards of integrity.
