Tanzania receives credentials from Iranian Ambassador-Designate  

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has received credentials from the Ambassador-Designate of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tanzania, Mohammad Javad Hemmatpanah, during a ceremony held at the Ministry’s sub-offices in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking after receiving the credentials, Minister Kombo congratulated Ambassador Hemmatpanah on his appointment and assured him of the close cooperation of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in the discharge of his diplomatic duties in the country.

Ambassador Kombo noted that Tanzania and Iran have long-standing and friendly relations, built on mutual respect and shared interests. He added that the ties between the two nations continue to strengthen in various sectors, including trade and investment, education and health, energy, as well as science, technology, and innovation.

For his part, Ambassador-Designate Hemmatpanah expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed the Iranian Government’s commitment to expanding the scope of cooperation with Tanzania, particularly in the areas of economic and investment partnerships, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure development.

The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
