Tanzania reaps gains from ISA Assembly, holds productive talks with solar energy firms

NEW DELHI: TANZANIA has continued participating in global discussions aimed at promoting solar energy use at the Ninth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), taking place in New Delhi, India, while holding talks with various international companies specialising in solar energy technologies.
The discussions with the solar energy companies were held on November 4, 2026, on the sidelines of the assembly and were led by Emilian Nyanda from the Ministry of Energy, who is also Tanzania’s representative to the ISA. The talks aimed to identify investors who could partner with the government in expanding electricity access, particularly in areas not yet connected to the national grid.
During the discussions, Nyanda said the government was continuing to create a conducive investment environment to attract investors in renewable energy, particularly solar power, to ensure reliable electricity supply to citizens, including those living on islands and in other off-grid areas, while supporting economic and social activities.

On the sidelines of the assembly, Nyanda also met executives from Shakti Pumps, led by Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Patidar, who explained that the company specialises in solar-powered water pump technologies used to supply water to communities and support irrigation projects.
He said the technologies were important in improving agricultural productivity and access to water, particularly in rural areas.
In another meeting, Nyanda held discussions with Enerzy AI Chief Executive Officer Mazhar Hussein, whose company specialises in digital systems for monitoring and controlling solar power installations.
The systems can monitor plant performance, detect technical faults and forecast electricity generation based on solar radiation conditions.
