Tanzania ready to receive two sets of VAR

TANZANIA: Tanzania is poised to receive two sets of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), the technology believed to resolve refereeing woes.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) General Secretary, Kidao Wilfred, confirmed in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.

He said one will be permanently installed at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium while the other is the mobile version.

“Of course, the current technology in football cannot be escaped…we face challenges in refereeing but soon, we are going to receive two sets of VAR.

“Aside from the one to be installed at Benjamin Mkapa venue, the mobile VAR version is the latest, such that it can be moved from one stadium to another,” he said.

He also revealed that the federation is working around the clock to produce competent referees capable of officiating major football tournaments.

“There are a lot of factors that affect our referees, and some of them are personal issues of which, as a federation, we can do nothing to solve them,” Wilfred said.
