DAR ES SALAAM: Many para swimmers have turned up to compete in the 1st Tanzania Para Swimming National Identification Gala 2023.
The event at Gymkhana Club in Dar es Salaam on Saturday afternoon has attracted swimmers from the city and Zanzibar.
It brings together athletes with different degrees of disabilities to showcase their swimming potentials.
Amosi Bonface, one of the experienced para-swimmers in the country says the platform gives them a chance to upscale their talents.
“Though we are disabled, we can equally compete at various para swimming events and this is a wake up call to government to also invest in us,” he says.
In his remarks, National Sports Officer at the National Sports Council (NSC) Charles Maguzu insists that the state will always be on gas pedal to promote all sporting disciplines in the country.
He also thanks organisers of the event for their support in bringing together the disabled athletes saying they are implementing government efforts to accelerate sports development.
