Tanzania Open Golf 2024 concludes with thrilling final

ARUSHA: THE 2024 Vodacom Tanzania Golf Open wrapped up in style with a vibrant closing ceremony at Arusha’s Kili Golf Course, where Kenyan golfers Greg Snow and Sammy Mulama delivered standout performances in the professional and elite amateur categories, respectively.

Mulama secured the elite amateur title with a total score of +16 (76, 77, 75, 76), while Snow clinched the professional crown with an impressive -2 (74, 68, 70, 74) after four days of intense competition.

The tournament, which featured 72 holes of play, brought together over 150 golfers from across the globe including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, the UK and host Tanzania.

Tanzania’s top performer, Isiaka Daudi, finished third in the amateur category with a score of +22 (85, 74, 74, 77), behind second-placed Kenyan Josphat Rono, who scored +20 (83, 74, 75, 76).

In the professional category, Tanzania’s Isaac Wanyeche carded (74, 75, 73, 73) tied for third place with Kenya’s Daniel Nduva (77, 73, 77, 68), both recording a score of +7. Rwandese Celestin Nsanzuwera was second with +6 (77, 69, 73, 75).

The winners received trophies and cash prizes presented by the chief guest, Agapinus Tax, Vodacom Tanzania’s Director of Tax and Compliance.

“This tournament has not only showcased exceptional athletic talent but also highlighted the unifying power of sports across Africa,” he said.

“The Vodacom Tanzania Open 2024 reinforces our country’s ability to host world-class events and I applaud Vodacom Tanzania for its steadfast commitment to fostering international cooperation through sports.”

Tax also highlighted the positive impact of the event on Arusha’s tourism sector and its role in community engagement in sports.

“As Vodacom Tanzania, we are deeply honoured to support an initiative that not only elevates the sport of golf but also strengthens community bonds and positions our nation as a hub for international sporting events,” he added.

Gilman Kasiga, Chairman of the TGU, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the event’s success.
