Tanzania okays Singida’s Action Plan to prevent and combat human trafficking

SINGIDA: THE Anti-Trafficking in Persons Secretariat (ATS) under the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved Singida Region’s Action Plan for Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking, outlining the responsibilities of each stakeholder involved in efforts to tackle the crime.

The action plan was approved during a meeting that brought together various stakeholders involved in combating human trafficking, including police officers, social welfare officers, government attorneys, religious leaders, magistrates and other relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was chaired by ATS Legal Officer Providence Simbila, who emphasised the importance of cooperation among relevant institutions to ensure that measures to prevent, identify and address human trafficking incidents are effectively implemented.

The action plan clearly defines the responsibilities of each member and relevant institution, with the aim of strengthening accountability and improving coordination of anti-trafficking activities in Singida Region.

During the meeting, participants were also given an opportunity to learn about the toll-free number 195, which serves as an important channel for providing information and reporting suspected cases of human trafficking.
