Tanzania notes remarkable success in renewable energy projects

DODOMA: THE Deputy Minister for Energy, Salome Makamba, has presented a report to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals outlining developments in renewable energy, the government’s strategy to diversify the country’s energy sources, and the implementation of strategic electricity generation projects.

The report was presented before the committee chaired by Subira Mgalu, with Simon Songe Lusengekile serving as Vice Chairman. Makamba also outlined the government’s plans to strengthen the capacity of the national grid to meet growing electricity demand and ensure a reliable power supply.

The meeting was attended by committee members, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy responsible for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba; the Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Innocent Luoga; as well as officials from the Ministry of Energy and the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).

The presentation focused on government measures to increase electricity generation, expand the use of renewable energy and strengthen national grid infrastructure as part of broader efforts to develop an energy system capable of meeting Tanzania’s current and future electricity needs.
