Tanzania marks Law Day Event with call for law students to strictly observe integrity and patriotism

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has called on law students in Tanzania to build their professional careers on discipline, innovation and patriotism to remain competitive in an increasingly globalised job market.
Minister Kikwete made the statement when addressing students during Law Day and Career Event at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law in Dar es Salaam noting that success in today’s legal profession requires more than academic knowledge, stressing that ethics, discipline and patriotism are essential qualities for professionals seeking to compete beyond national borders.
“It is important for law students to understand that their profession demands not only legal knowledge, but also strong ethics, discipline and patriotism that will enable them to become competitive professionals and contribute positively to the nation,” he said.

He said the government has implemented a series of reforms, including improving the justice delivery system, expanding the use of technology in legal services, investing in justice infrastructure and promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
According to Ridhiwani, these reforms are aimed at enhancing efficiency among legal practitioners and justice institutions, while creating a more effective and accessible justice system in the country.
He further emphasized that a strong legal and justice system is a key pillar in accelerating socio-economic development, noting that legal professionals play a critical role in safeguarding national interests and promoting good governance.
