Tanzania lures global investors, financial institutions to tap into its growing energy, infrastructure  and industrial sectors

PARIS: TANZANIA has called on international investors and financial institutions to tap into its growing investment opportunities, particularly in energy, infrastructure and industrial production.

Tanzania’s Ambassador to France, Saidi Othman Yakubu, made the call on September 9, 2026, in Paris while contributing to a meeting of the Friends of Africa Group at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which focused on improving access to finance and investment to drive Africa’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Yakubu said Tanzania’s economy was growing at an average rate of six per cent, supported by sound economic and investment policies as well as the implementation of major projects worth more than 100 billion US dollars between 2021 and 2025.

Additionally, he said the country has also begun implementing the National Development Vision 2050, which seeks to build a 1 trillion US dollar economy while positioning Tanzania as a competitive and innovative nation anchored on strong industries and sustainable use of its resources.

“Tanzania offers wide-ranging investment opportunities, particularly in energy, infrastructure and industrial production,” Ambassador Yakubu said, urging investors and international financial institutions to explore and invest in the opportunities.

He also commended the OECD for establishing the Africa Virtual Investment Platform (AVIP), saying the initiative would enhance transparency of investment information, connect projects with investors and mobilise private capital for development projects across Africa.

Tanzania is among the initial 16 countries participating in the platform.

Moreover, the envoy called on the OECD and African partners to strengthen public-private partnerships, capital markets and investment information platforms to ensure that Tanzania’s and Africa’s investment potential is fully recognised and utilised.

He said stronger cooperation between governments, investors and financial institutions would be key to mobilising the capital needed to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation.
