Tanzania launches Karibu KiliFair heading to tourism season
ARUSHA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to develop diverse strategies for enhancing the country’s natural resources.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the private sector and government institutions in promoting and strengthening Tanzania’s tourism sector.
Speaking today in Arusha during the official opening of the international tourism exhibition known as Karibu KiliFair, Dr. Biteko stated that cross-sectoral cooperation is a vital approach to boosting the national economy through the growth of the tourism industry.
He further noted that under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Sixth Phase Government continues to implement robust strategic programs aimed at promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions. These include the production of acclaimed documentaries such as The Royal Tour and Amazing Tanzania, which have significantly contributed to attracting more visitors to the country.

“We have all witnessed a major increase in the number of tourists visiting Tanzania. In 2024 alone, the country recorded over five million tourist arrivals, a new national milestone,” said Dr. Biteko.
Earlier, Dr. Biteko toured various exhibition booths, including that of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. At the ministry’s booth, Senior Tourism Officer from the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Ms. Zainabu Suleiman, briefed him on the board’s participation in the event and its efforts in promoting the country’s tourism.
The Karibu KiliFair is recognized as a vital platform for tourism stakeholders from both within and outside Tanzania to exchange ideas, showcase tourism products and services, and explore opportunities to further develop a sector that plays a significant role in the nation’s economy.
