Tanzania launches e-GA system to safeguard its sensitive information
DODOMA: PUBLIC servants have been urged to stop using personal email accounts for government-related communications, as this practice has been identified as a source of leaks and loss of sensitive government information.
The warning was issued today, January 28, 2026, in Dodoma by the Minister of State, President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, during the launch of the Second Board of the e-Government Authority (e-GA).
Minister Kikwete said that using personal emails compromises the security of government information and weakens official communication systems.
“The government has invested in ICT infrastructure that meets security standards, and this infrastructure must be properly used by all public servants,” Kikwete stated.

He further emphasized that, from now on, the government will closely monitor communications to ensure that all government correspondence is conducted exclusively through official email accounts. This measure aims to increase accountability and protect government records in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, e-GA Director General, Benedict Ndomba said the authority will continue collaborating with public institutions to strengthen the use of the Government Mail System (GMS). Ndomba noted that the system has been in use for over 10 years and has delivered positive results in improving communication and the implementation of government decisions.
