Tanzania launches a major campaign to promote domestic investment

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has launched a national campaign to promote domestic investment in a renewed bid to ensure more projects are owned by Tanzanians rather than foreigners.

The 60-day campaign is designed to educate Tanzanian citizens about the opportunities of investment sector found in Tanzania.

The announcement was made today, January 16, 2025, by the Minister of State, President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo, during the official launch of the campaign. Minister Mkumbo urged Tanzanians who own land to invest in productive activities to generate income and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Gilead Teri, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), said the authority has set major goals, including the implementation of 1,500 projects.

Meanwhile, Victor Byemelwa, Communications and Public Relations Manager at Kilombero Sugar Company, has expressed gratitude to the government and investment authorities for their continued efforts to address challenges facing investors.

The campaign is expected to kick off on January 17, 2026, across mainland Tanzania and the islands. The education provided will focus on priority sectors identified in the National Vision 2050, as part of efforts to ensure investment contributes to sustainable national development.
