Tanzania jumps to 110th in FIFA rankings
TANZANIA national football team – Taifa Stars has made significant strides in the latest International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rankings.
It has climbed three spots to 110th place, thanks to a commendable performance in the recent African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The upward movement follows matches against Ethiopia and Guinea, marking an important milestone for Tanzanian football.
In their first encounter against Ethiopia, Taifa Stars managed a goalless draw, a result that highlighted their defensive capabilities.
However, it was their subsequent match against Guinea that truly showcased their potential. A thrilling 2-1 victory not only boosted team morale but also contributed to an impressive gain of 13.25 points in the FIFA rankings.
The recent success is part of a broader upward trajectory for Tanzania’s football since July last year, when Stars were positioned at 124th.
Steadily, they have climbed the ranks.
By the end of last year, they were at 121st and they continued to improve, reaching 119th place by February after the AFCON finals in Ivory Coast.
The team’s efforts culminated in their ascent to 114th in June and then to 113th the following month, before settling at their current ranking of 110th.
