Tanzania joins CPA’s Executive Committee meeting exploring parliamentary ties

LILONGWE: PARLIAMENTARY Secretary and Secretary of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, Baraka Leonard, on August 11, 2026, attended the association’s Executive Committee meeting held in Lilongwe, Malawi.

The meeting took place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) as part of preparations for the CPA Africa Region Annual General Conference scheduled for August 14, 2026.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the CPA Africa Region, who is also the Speaker of the Parliament of The Gambia, Fabakary Jatta.

Tanzania Parliament’s delegate to the conference, Rose Tweve, also attended the meeting.

The CPA Africa Region Annual General Conference began on August 10, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on August 16, 2026.

The conference brings together leaders and delegates from parliaments of CPA member countries across Africa to discuss issues related to strengthening parliamentary institutions, good governance and parliamentary cooperation within the Commonwealth.
