Tanzania joins African lawmakers at the PAP session to set priorities for institutional reforms

MIDRAND: TANZANIA has joined lawmakers from across the continent at the First Ordinary Session of the Seventh Pan-African Parliament (PAP), where leaders are setting priorities for institutional reforms, regional integration and Africa’s development agenda.

The Tanzanian delegation, led by Mariam Mungula, is participating in the sitting being held in Midrand, South Africa.

According to information from the Tanzania Parliament, the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa officially opened the session and called on African countries to strengthen cooperation in promoting democracy, safeguarding peace and accelerating sustainable development across the continent.

The statement further noted that addressing the opening ceremony, the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Fateh Boutbig, unveiled the Parliament’s vision, which prioritises institutional reforms, improved efficiency, stronger collaboration among member states and a results-driven approach that delivers tangible benefits to African citizens.

During the session, legislators are expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the continent, including governance, peace and security, socio-economic development and the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Tanzania’s delegation is taking part in the discussions alongside other member states as the Parliament seeks to strengthen continental cooperation and advance Africa’s long-term development objectives.
